Tomorrow Man made by the sea - Catherine François
Breakwater at Bréarstraat
, 8300 Knokke-Heist
About the artwork
Installed on a breakwater, Tomorrow Man is designed to erode and change colour. The sculpture is literally exposed to the elements: the tides, the sun, the wind and the rain. This is exactly what Cathérine François wanted her sculpture to symbolise - the struggle of mankind versus nature.
About the artist
Cathérine François mainly works using the ‘lost-wax casting method’, although she does also experiment with other materials. Many of her sculptures have holes in them, depicting a destructive energy, while showing that birth and destruction go hand in hand. Everything is constantly changing.
